Overview & Content

Are you suffering from chronic fatigue, pain, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, and/or various sensitivities (light/chemicals/digestive)? Perhaps you are in the healthcare industry seeing complex cases that are difficult to treat? If so, this could be the right course for you!

The Conscious Healing course offer a holistic formula that promotes the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

This course consists of 3 modules – Taking a Deep Dive into Addressing the Issues of the Elderly; Grief, Loss and Dying; and Communication and Motivational Interviewing.  All modules are taken directly from Nickerson Institute’s Certified Integrative Mental Health Coach Training Program.

The elderly population experiences a specific set of challenges in their lives.  They are looking back over their accomplishments and facing their own mortality.  Many elderly people have endured a tremendous amount of loss.  Loss of their family, friends, partners, health, and life’s dreams and aspirations.  Studies have shown that the elderly people who live the highest quality of life in their final years are those who have mastered the art of remaining positive, having meaning and purpose in their lives, work on developing and maintaining positive relationships, and strive daily to learn new things. Effective strategies for enhancing each of these qualities are taught in this course.

You will be learning about grief and loss, the stages of grief, and the dying process.  A grief and loss reaction can be induced by any major change in a person’s life.  Dying people have special needs and experiences that need to be attended to.  For many, the process of dying is a very spiritual experience. However, giving the person an opportunity to share and process these experiences is often shunned, and in many cases dialogue that they are transitioning is actually avoided.

Motivational interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication designed to strengthen personal motivation for commitment to a specific goal (behavior change) by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reason(s) for change in an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.  MI has been shown to be especially effective when working with clients who are experiencing a sense of disempowerment over their life. This respectful and non-judgmental method focuses on the teen’s strengths and helps them navigate their uncertainties and build confidence in their ability to make positive changes.
