This course is designed for individuals and professionals who seek additional information, expertise, and integrative (conventional and complementary) techniques to decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety. The modules in this course are taken directly from Nickerson Institute’s Certified Integrative Mental Health Coach Training Program.
In this course, you will be learning about cognitive-behavioral techniques and strategies for helping clients who are experiencing a depressed mood. You will not be providing therapy, however you will be learning tips and strategies to help clients see their world in a more positive light. You will be teaching them to challenge their negative beliefs and replace them with more realistic and positive thoughts.
Anxiety is a very common and destructive state of mind that many people suffer with throughout their lives. The traditional mode of treatment is anti-anxiety medication. However, this can be very addictive and has serious cognitive side effects. You will be learning about and exploring a cognitive strategy called Rational Emotive Behavioral Coaching (REBC) techniques that you can use to help people realize and change their irrational beliefs.
You will also be exploring numerous evidence-based complementary methods proven to decrease depression and anxiety. Some of these methods include mindfulness meditation, yoga, acupuncture, herbal treatments, music therapy, pet therapy, massage, forest bathing, emotional-freedom techniques, and spiritual practices…and much more.
