Self-Care and Resilience for Mental Health Professionals

Course Objective:

This eight-week coaching group is designed to equip mental health professionals with practical tools for self-care, resilience, and emotional balance. Each week focuses on essential self-care practices that support personal well-being and professional effectiveness, fostering long-term mental health and sustainability in their roles.

Week-by-Week Outline

Week 1: Building Self-Awareness and Recognizing Burnout Signs

Objective

To help professionals identify early signs of burnout and personal stress triggers that arise from their work.

Topics Covered:

  • Understanding burnout and compassion fatigue.
  • Recognizing physical, emotional, and cognitive signs.
  • Differentiating between work-related stress and personal life stress.

Activities

Self-assessment on burnout indicators, reflective journaling, and small group discussion on common stressors.

Week 2: Cultivating Self-Compassion and Emotional Resilience in Clinical Settings

Objective

To foster a compassionate mindset toward oneself while managing emotionally intense client interactions.

  • How self-compassion enhances resilience and professional empathy.

Week 3: Setting and Maintaining Boundaries with Clients and Colleagues

  • Balancing self-care with professional commitments.
